Frequently asked questions
Everything to know before, during and after buying an Eclene robot.
Choosing the right robot
How do I choose between the four Eclene models?
The right model depends on the glass you're cleaning and how much control you want over the process. The Air and Home suit standard framed windows and come with a handheld remote only. The Pro and Max add frameless glass detection, an automatic dual water spray, and app control alongside the remote. Anyone with straightforward framed windows and no interest in a phone app is usually better served by the Air or Home. Larger glass doors, frameless panels, or a preference for controlling the clean from a phone point toward the Pro or Max. The full Eclene range lays out suction power, control method, and detection type side by side, which makes the comparison easier before deciding.
What's the difference between the Eclene Air and Eclene Home?
Both are wired, remote-controlled, and rely on a manual spray bottle rather than an automatic tank. The Home adds genuine automatic edge detection, reading the frame of the window rather than depending purely on a programmed path, along with a stronger motor and slightly higher suction. The Air keeps things simpler and is priced accordingly, built for anyone who wants the suction and the walking pattern without the extra detection layer. Battery backup also differs slightly: twenty minutes on the Air against fifteen on the Home, though this only matters if the mains supply cuts out mid-clean.
Which model works on frameless glass?
Frameless glass needs a robot built to read where the pane actually ends, since there's no frame edge to detect. The Air and Home are designed for standard framed windows and the manual advises against frameless use on both. The Eclene Pro and Eclene Max include dedicated frameless detection, with the Max using a laser sensor for a more precise read on an uneven or worn edge. Anyone with frameless glass doors or large unframed panels should look at one of these two rather than the entry models.
Is the Pro or Max better for someone who wants app control?
Both the Pro and Max pair with a phone over Bluetooth through the Tuya app, mirroring what the physical remote does: mode selection, spray control, start and stop. The specifications are otherwise nearly identical between the two, same suction, same motor, same battery backup. The one real difference is detection: the Max uses a laser sensor rather than the standard optical read the Pro relies on, which matters most on frameless or irregular glass edges. Someone cleaning straightforward framed glass with app control in mind gets the same experience from either model.
Do I need the most expensive model if I only have standard framed windows?
Standard framed glass doesn't require the frameless detection or laser sensor that set the Pro and Max apart. The Air and Home are built specifically for this kind of window and cover it fully, with the Home adding automatic edge detection for a bit more precision along the frame. Paying for the Max's laser sensor makes sense when frameless or irregular glass is involved, not for a typical framed window that a lower model already handles.
Specifications and how it works
How does an automatic window cleaning robot actually clean?
A vacuum motor pulls the robot flush against the glass while two wheels carry it across the surface in a set pattern. A microfibre pad mounted on a rotating disc does the actual wiping, starting dry to lift dust and grit before any water touches the pane. Once the edges of the window are read, the robot completes its pass and stops on its own rather than needing to be manually switched off mid-clean.
What suction power do Eclene robots use?
Suction power ranges from 5600Pa on the Air up to 6000Pa on the Home, with the Pro and Max running a brushless motor rated at 3000Pa. The lower figure on the higher models reflects a different, quieter motor type rather than a weaker grip, brushless motors typically run more efficiently at a lower rated pressure while still holding the robot securely against vertical glass throughout the clean.
Does the robot need to stay plugged in?
Every model in the Eclene range runs on mains power throughout the cleaning cycle rather than on battery alone. The built-in battery exists purely as a safety backup if the power cuts out, not as a way to run the robot cordlessly. A cord between 5 and 5.5 metres, depending on the model, gives enough reach for most windows without needing an extension.
How long does the backup battery last if the power cuts out?
Backup time varies by model: twenty minutes on the Air, fifteen on the Home, and forty minutes on both the Pro and Max. During this window the robot stays fixed to the glass, flashes a red light, and sounds an alert rather than continuing to move. The included safety rope offers a second line of protection independent of the battery, meant to be tied off indoors before every clean.
Will it leave streaks on the glass?
Streaking almost always traces back to a worn or overly wet cleaning cloth rather than a fault in the machine, the same thing that happens cleaning by hand with a dirty cloth. A first dry pass to lift grit, followed by a light spray rather than a soaked pad, gives the cleanest result. Swapping in a fresh microfibre pad resolves streaking on any model in the range.
Delivery times
How long does delivery take?
Orders are prepared and dispatched within 24 to 48 hours, excluding weekends and public holidays. Once dispatched, delivery takes between 4 and 8 business days, bringing the estimated total delivery time to somewhere between 5 and 10 business days from the moment the order is placed. The exact carrier and timing within that window depends on weight, destination, and order value.
Is delivery free?
Delivery is free on every order, regardless of order value, and every parcel ships with a tracking number so its progress can be followed from dispatch through to arrival.
Which countries does Eclene deliver to?
Eclene currently delivers within the United Kingdom only.
How will I know my order has shipped?
A confirmation email goes out as soon as the order is placed, followed by a second email once the parcel ships, including the tracking number needed to follow its progress to the door.
What time do I need to order by for same-day dispatch?
Orders placed before 5pm GMT+1, Monday to Friday, go into that day's dispatch queue. Anything placed after that cut-off, or over the weekend, is prepared on the next working day.
Returns and refunds
How long do I have to return a robot?
Under the French Consumer Code, there's a 30-day right of withdrawal from the date the parcel is received to request a return or exchange, with no reason required. That's considerably longer than the 14-day minimum most retailers offer, giving enough time to actually test the robot on a few windows before deciding.
What condition does the robot need to be in to return it?
The item needs to come back in its original condition and complete, including packaging, accessories, and instructions, and in new, unused condition so it can be resold. Proof of purchase needs to be included in the parcel for the return to be processed.
Who pays for return shipping?
Return shipping costs sit with the customer rather than being covered by Eclene, separate from the free delivery that applies to the original outbound order.
What happens if my robot arrives damaged or faulty?
Photos of the damage or defect sent to contact@eclene.com let the team process an exchange or refund without the return-shipping cost that applies to a standard change-of-mind return. This route is specifically for items that arrive faulty or damaged, not for returns made simply because the robot wasn't what was expected.
How long does a refund take once you receive my return?
Once the returned item has been received and inspected, the refund goes back to the original payment method, with banks typically taking between 7 and 14 days to process it on their end after that.
Installation, use and maintenance
How do I set up the robot for the first time?
The cleaning cloth goes onto the ring first, fitted onto the rotating disc so no gap is left for air to leak. The safety rope ties off to something fixed indoors before the robot goes anywhere near the glass, and the unit needs to be switched on and confirmed running before it's placed against the window, not after. Keeping the robot at least 80mm from the window frame when starting avoids a misread of the edge during that first pass.
Do I need to attach the safety rope every time?
The safety rope is meant to be checked and attached before every single clean, not just the first time. It functions as a physical backup independent of the battery, meant to hold the robot in place if suction or power fails partway through a pass, and checking the knot and the rope's condition before starting takes a moment either way.
How do I clean and maintain the cleaning pad?
The microfibre pad comes off the cleaning ring for washing, at 40°C or below, without bleach, tumble drying, ironing, or dry cleaning. A pad that's starting to look grey or feels stiff is usually the cause behind reduced grip or visible streaking, and swapping it for a fresh one from the included set restores the result without needing to adjust anything else on the robot.
Can I use it on rainy or humid days?
Wet or rainy weather isn't recommended, and cleaning several times in a row in low humidity, such as an air-conditioned room, can leave the glass surface slippery enough to affect grip. A dry, moderately humid day gives the most reliable result, with the first pass done dry before any spray or water touches the pad.
What should I do if the robot stops during a power cut?
The backup battery keeps the robot fixed to the glass while a red light flashes and an alert sounds, giving time to act before the battery runs down. Pulling the safety rope gently, kept close to parallel with the glass, brings the robot back down without it losing its grip mid-descent. The power switch should then be turned off before checking the mains connection.
Payment and security
What payment methods does Eclene accept?
Mastercard, Visa, and Amex are accepted alongside Apple Pay and PayPal, covering most of the ways UK customers typically prefer to pay online.
Can I pay in instalments?
Instalment payment is available through both PayPal and Klarna at checkout, splitting the cost of a robot across several payments rather than paying the full amount upfront.
Is my payment information secure?
Card details are processed through the payment providers directly rather than stored on Eclene's own servers, the same standard encryption used across UK retail checkouts generally applies to every transaction.
What currency am I charged in?
Orders are charged in pounds sterling (GBP), matching the price shown on the product page and at checkout with no currency conversion involved for UK orders.
